Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony and certificate distribution, Khulna's District Commissioner, Mohammad Saiful Islam, emphasized the importance of information in the profession. He highlighted that the strength of journalists lies in their ability to deliver accurate and objective news, which is crucial for shaping a new Bangladesh. "Objective reporting can bring about positive change in our society," he said, urging young journalists to embrace fact-based reporting and use their platform to contribute to the nation's development.
The event, titled "The Future of Journalism in Bangladesh: Youth Perspectives," was held at the Humayun Kabir Balu Auditorium of the Khulna Press Club. In addition to the certificate distribution, the program featured speeches from prominent media professionals and discussions on the ethical responsibilities of journalists.
Several speakers at the event stressed that, while journalists face numerous challenges and risks, the current media landscape is increasingly influenced by business interests. They called on young and professional journalists to strive for independence and uphold ethical journalism, focusing on transparency and accountability.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Khandker Shamim, President of PATH Bangladesh, and moderated by Shahidullah Jackie, Chief Operations Officer, and Fardina Islam Anannya, Chief Program Officer. Special guests included Shariful Islam, Acting Head of the Discipline of Mass Communication and Journalism at Khulna University, Enamul Haque, Convenor of Khulna Press Club, Rafiqul Islam Tutul, Member Secretary, and Sylvie Harun, President of Sampriti Forum Khulna.
