With the theme, "Building a Humane Society, Empowering Women through Self-reliance," 11 women were given hands-on training in sewing machine operation. The training was conducted by Sara Ban Tohura, a trainer from the Khulna Department of Youth Development (Clothing).

Due to illness, the Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Mostak Uddin, Deputy Director, Department of Youth Development (Khulna), was unable to attend, and in his place, Mr. Nurul Imam Khan Mitu, President of the Khulna UNESCO Club, delivered the chief guest’s speech. The event was also graced by Amatul Fatema, a prominent social worker, and Ms. Fardina Islam Anannya, Chief Program Officer of PATH Bangladesh.

The ceremony was chaired by Engr. Khandker Shamim, President of PATH Bangladesh, and was moderated by Mr. Shihab Moin Saurav, Secretary General of PATH Bangladesh.

Over the past few weeks, participants gained practical experience in basic cutting, sewing, and finishing, along with understanding product quality, costing, and customer service. By providing sewing machines, the project created a real opportunity for these women to become self-employed.

Engr. Khandker Shamim, President of PATH Bangladesh, stated, “The goal of this project is to create skills, dignity, and opportunity. Even after the training, we will continue providing mentoring, market linkages, and order management, ensuring that trainees can sustain their self-reliance in the long term.”

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates and sewing machines, followed by a vote of thanks from the trainees and guests.
